We are looking for an ambitious, experienced and enthusiastic Senior Consultant with a background in public affairs and/or communications to join the Lexington team, which includes former Government special advisors, politicians, communications specialists, journalists, agency, think tank and charity experts. The role will be predominantly based in our Lexington Cambridge office, helping to service clients and grow our strategic communications offer in the East of England. However, we envisage this as an integrated role – with the senior consultant also working closely with clients and teams in our London HQ, both virtually and in person.
Senior Consultant Opportunity at Lexington Cambridge
The successful candidate, who will have at least four to five years’ experience in previous agency or in-house roles, will join a fast-paced, expanding team and be willing to put in the work to progress their career quickly. You will form an integral part of busy account teams delivering campaigns to help solve wide ranging communications, political, regulatory and policy issues for some of the UK’s biggest companies. You will also advise clients in ‘start-up’ businesses who are trying to establish themselves here in the UK. From some of the UK’s most recognisable brands to some of the most dynamic new companies, you will use your significant client experience and understanding of the media and political environment to help them navigate a rapidly changing environment
The successful candidate, will ideally be an established agency/in-house professional who has significant client handling and new business experience. You will have a thorough understanding of the media and political landscape and the ability to apply that knowledge across a wide range of sectors. You will deliver consistently high-quality written communication; and have strong organisational and project management skills alongside strong personal skills, an interest in current affairs and a thirst to understand your clients and the sectors in which they operate. A strong, provable track-record in new business development is essential. A specific background in one or more of the following areas is also desirable: tech, life sciences, infrastructure, transport, retail and financial services.
- Take an active role in new business activity, including seeking out new leads, drafting proposals and taking part in new business pitches
- Support on developing and expanding the Lexington Cambridge offer
- Develop public affairs and communications campaigns to deliver tangible change; acting as day-to-day lead on project implementation;
- Manage a range of client accounts and relationships
- Provide timely and insightful advice across the business and to clients;
- Map stakeholders on a regional, national and international level where appropriate and identify avenues for engagement;
- Support and deliver impactful media engagement, liaison and integrated digital campaigns;
- Effective management and mentorship to help team members reach their full potential; and
- Manage the delivery of Lexington Cambridge events

Interview process/Start Dates
