Senior Project Manager

Due to continued success, we are looking to recruit an enthusiastic and highly motivated Senior Project Manager to join the Project Management team

You will manage multiple complex projects delivering business critical product solutions to demanding schedules and budgets for mission critical customer applications

As a Senior Project Manager, you will have at least 5 years’ experience in managing complex hardware projects ideally for mobile communications solutions, including packages of sub-contracted work

Your role

Sepura needs an experienced Senior Project Manager that can:

  • Applies project management tools and techniques to achieve project objectives, meet schedule deadlines and budget targets
  • Ensure approaches/techniques are used for building high performing teams, maintaining good team morale and a high level of operating efficiency
  • Demonstrates leadership by promoting trust, interaction and shared commitment within teams
  • Demonstrate experience managing the transfer of development project into volume manufacturing.

Your day to day

Our customer base includes many different industries and markets around the world. Our complete TETRA and LTE solutions have been developed specifically for users in multiple sectors to face their critical communications challenges

There is no such thing as a typical day here at Sepura. You will be supported by your manager and team, as well as collaborating with other departments across the business. Project management activities that you will be responsible for include:

  • Planning, Management and leadership of multiple complex projects focusing on hardware development including but not limited to Electronics (RF and Baseband), Mechanical Design, Test Equipment and Manufacturing. An understanding of software design processes is also expected with an ability to manage hardware projects with limited software content.
  • Manage regular project meetings, ensuring accountability of team members and individuals in the wider business
  • Manage the integration phases of projects when different technologies are brought together to satisfy product solution requirements.
  • Ensure approaches/techniques are used for building high performing teams, maintaining good team morale and a high level of operating efficiency
  • Ensure personal and team adherence to defined project management processes
  • Capture and manage project risks and opportunities with appropriate planning of mitigations
  • Communicate with stakeholders, ensuring an appropriate escalation of issues
  • Negotiate the availability of project resources with Resource Managers and other Project Managers, ensuring smoothed and optimised resource utilisation
  • Work in partnership with Senior Technical Leads / Architects and Product Managers to deliver industry leading solutions into volume production

This job involves some travelling, including abroad, although this is infrequent, so the successful applicant will have a full, clean driving licence and their own car. Travel expenses will be paid 

UK Security Clearance is not essential for this role but the ability to pass Security Clearance if needed is a requirement

What you need to succeed


  • Bachelor's degree of equivalent in an engineering discipline 
  • Training in Project Management to a project manager level, with accredited certification through IPMA, APM, Prince 2 or IPM or equivalent

Experience and skills

  • 5+ years’ experience leading complex development projects and programme teams in a multi-discipline environment on complex product development projects, using Agile and Waterfall methodologies
  • Knowledge and confidence in managing external design and manufacturing solution providers including those based in the Far East
  • Experience creating Statement of Work and Procurement Specifications external design and manufacturing solution providers to meet technical and commercial requirements

Nice to have


  • Master’s degree or equivalent in an engineering discipline
  • Training in programme management

Experience and skills

  • Experience with LTE or other mission critical technologies
  • Experience of software delivery projects and system level programme management
  • Product engineering background in embedded electronic solutions (Electronics, Mechanics, Audio, Conformance) for high performance mission critical products
  • Documentation of project management processes and an ability to contribute to the maintenance and improvement of existing processes
  • Wider understanding of product development principles (Electronics, Mechanical, Manufacturing & Test) and methodologies to facilitate best practice for product design and development
  • Experience working for similar sized organisations and an ability to adjust approaches (neither a large multinational or a start up)
