Support Engineer

We are looking for a Support Engineer to join our team in Royston. You will need to have a degree or equivalent in a science and technology field and effective customer facing skills.

As part of this growth, we are pleased to announce a new position as part of our exceptional Engineering Support Team within the UK.

This is a Professional Technical position and will be responsible for providing expert advice, issue resolution and technical support to End Users and Field Engineers across a range of our flagship products. As a troubleshooting expert, you will also be strategically updating technical manuals and liaising with our Application and Design & Manufacturing arms on required updates and future products.

This role will ideally suit a curious and highly technically minded software/systems engineer with a passion for creating workarounds and/or fixes when faced with, often, unique problems.

A good understanding of control systems, software architecture and experience of resolving unexpected interactions between 3rd party and proprietary software would be advantageous.

This role is based at our head office in Royston but will have high levels of home working/flexibility.

What you will accomplish together with us:

  • Understanding and Troubleshooting complex issues for users and application specialists

  • Provide direct support to engineers in field (hardware / comms / software related problems)

  • Approve and release software for systems in field

  • Audit release testing documentation

  • Test release where appropriate

  • Check completeness of ECOs

  • Upload to distribution sites and announce to stakeholders

  • Train engineers

  • To troubleshoot connectivity issues

  • To set up 3’rd party devices

  • Document new processes

  • Ensure that documentation is correctly recorded and is kept up to date.

  • Build relationships with internal groups, providing feedback to product engineering and management on matters relating the field performance

What will convince us:

  • Degree or equivalent experience in a science or technology field

  • Effective customer facing skills

  • Accurate technical writing skills

  • Experience within Biopharmaceuticals, Medical Imaging or concurrent industry preferred but not essential (extensive training will be available for specific products)

  • Ability to manage meetings effectively

  • Strong, effective communication skills

  • Ability to work closely with multiple teams to manage an effective resolution

  • Familiarity with mobile tools and applications
