Software Developers - Python PHP front end- Work from home
Overview:- Cambent is a niche technology-based management consultancy based in central Cambridge. We have vacancies for junior-level part-time full-stack software developers with expertise in Python, PHP and also familiar with quantitative programming, basic website development, database management, and front-end design. The work will be part-time work-from-home role requiring one or two weekly team meetings in our office in central Cambridge. We are looking for people who share our passion to help traditional and tech small and medium enterprises (SME) around the world to prosper.
Requirements:- The applicant should have a sound knowledge of Python and mathematical modeling in order to independently convert our proprietary quantitative financial algorithms into Python code for the purpose of making commercial software for business intelligence and analytics. The software needs to be coded using best practices for adaptive learning and big data with a view to our expanding user base and data. In addition, the candidate should have a sound knowledge of general website development in PHP (Laravel framework), JS, and CSS languages, MySQL and JQuery databases, interfaces like JSON, administrative platforms like AWS and Github, payment processors like Paypal and Stripe, domain hosting and standard APIs. A basic understanding of front-end design, UI and UX, and SEO aspects is expected. To have a minimum of 3 years of commercial work experience.
Preferred:- Though not required, the applicant it is preferable for the candidate to hold a bachelor degree in computer science, engineering or math and to have a minimum of 3 years of solid commercial work experience being part of a team that launched a successful e-commerce service, marketplace, and / or commercial business analytics software products.
General Responsibilities:- To contribute to the team, to maintain a verifiable log of the number of hours worked, to share insights into other aspects of the new online business, to take part in face-to-face meetings with the team once or twice a week in the city of Cambridge, to be available for telephonic discussions throughout the week. To report the progress and issues in a timely manner. To be a friendly, respectful and positive-minded team player at all times.
Salary and Work Hours:- Competitive. Between £25,000 - 35,000 depending on the candidate's work experience, skills, and work hours. We are targeting 20 hours+ per week flexi-time and mostly remote work.
