Senior Events Executive

Would you like to lead a team of event organisers, delivering a range of RSC events from symposia through to awards ceremonies and major conferences?

The Royal Society of Chemistry (RSC) is looking for an experienced senior event organiser with proven project leadership and team management skills.

We have an opportunity for a Senior Events Executive to join us for a two year contract, on a full-time (35-hour week) basis. You will be based at our Cambridge Science Park office (free onsite parking and close to the guided busway and Cambridge North train station), with national and some international travel.

As Senior Events Executive you will be responsible for leading a team of event organisers and delivering the logistical and customer facing aspects of our portfolio of conferences and events.

This role requires an output-driven person who is motivated to provide the best possible on-site experience for our delegates, and who is able to work effectively in a dynamic team with multiple internal and external stakeholders.

We are looking for someone with:

  • Experience of working in the events industry with a consistent track record of event and project management
  • Experience of managing a small team and coordinating delivery of an events programme
  • Exceptional organisation skills and the ability to co-ordinate multiple activities successfully, to deliver to tight deadlines
  • Experience of procurement for events, including research, negotiation and contract management
  • Knowledge of event management systems
  • Strong interpersonal skills (verbal, written, negotiation)
  • Experience in management of budgets and resources
  • An ability to manage the needs and expectations of customers with tact and diplomacy
  • Willingness to actively participate in meetings and discussions, with evidence of successful use of problem solving skills
  • Flexibility and adaptability with an ability to respond to changing needs
  • Confidence with IT solutions
  • Evidence of commitment to continuous professional development (CPD)
