Coordinator (Part-time Self Employment Opportunity)

CamAWiSE is seeking a part-time self-employed Coordinator to help us grow the association’s reach and range of activities, and provide high quality support to CamAWiSE and its members.

Cambridge Association for Women in Science and Engineering (CamAWiSE) is a network established to help retain and improve the representation of women in science, engineering, technology, mathematics and medicine (STEMM) in industry and academia. We run a broad range of talks, workshops and networking meetings, and keep our members informed about initiatives related to women in STEMM as well as diversity and inclusion in STEMM more broadly. 

CamAWiSE is seeking a part-time self-employed Coordinator to help us grow the association’s reach and range of activities, and provide high quality support to CamAWiSE and its members. 

The successful candidate will have a STEMM background, a positive, friendly attitude and good interpersonal skills. They will need to be self-motivated and able to work independently as well as with a wide variety of people. The applicant should have excellent administrative skills (including MS Office), good communication and writing skills, active use of social media (Twitter, LinkedIn, Facebook and Instagram) and be confident in using internet applications. Experience of event organisation and web content management would be an advantage. 

This position offers a great opportunity to develop your communication, networking and project management skills. Key responsibilities include:

  • Responding to email enquiries and taking action as necessary 
  • Creating and circulating the CamAWiSE monthly newsletter
  • Co-organising, publicising and attending events; writing up meeting reports and collating event feedback 
  • Reporting back to the CamAWiSE Steering Committee regularly and attending Steering Committee meetings (every four to six weeks, in the evening) 
  • Maintaining and updating the CamAWiSE website, Twitter feed, Facebook page, LinkedIn group and Instagram account
  • Liaising with members regarding membership enquiries and renewals, and maintaining the membership database 

Hours of work per week will be flexible (2-3 days per week). Evening work will be required for meetings and events. The successful applicant would be self-employed and work from home using their own equipment. The contract will initially run until October 2022 and there will be opportunity for renewal for a further 11-month period. You will receive a compensation of £5.6k over an 11-month contract.
