Postdoctoral Research Associate - Crystal Structure Similarity

We are looking for a Postdoctoral Research Associate to contribute to the delivery of high quality research and trusted software products, for the application of scientific structural data within materials, discovery and development. The successful candidate will work within our passionate scientific and development team to research methods for comparing the structures of organic molecular crystals and prepare prototype tools for testing and further development to support continued enhancement of the CSD software suites.

The successful candidate will work within our passionate scientific and development team to research methods for comparing the structures of organic molecular crystals and prepare prototype tools for testing and further development to support continued enhancement of the CSD software suites. 

Responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

  • Develop computational approaches for analysing similarity between crystalline materials.
  • Develop computational strategies to better understand solid form landscapes of organic molecular crystals. 
  • Prototype software applications for analysing solid form landscapes of organic molecular crystals 
  • Explore new areas of application of CSD-Theory capabilities and support CSD-Theory adoption and expansion.  
  • Support scientific software development of CSD-Theory suite. 
  • Dissemination of scientific findings via reports, presentations (internal and external) and peer reviewed publications.

The ideal candidate will have a PhD in Chemistry, Mathematics, Computer Science or relevant field.

They will have experience in developing computational workflows for the analysis of complex datasets and be experienced in writing reports on scientific findings. Experience developing methods for the analysis, comparison and classification of crystal structures will be a clear advantage. Proven knowledge of Python programming is essential.
