Administrator

The University of Cambridge is one of the world's oldest universities and leading academic centres. If you're looking for a new challenge and would like excellent benefits, extensive learning opportunities and a stimulating working environment in return for your skills and contribution, there could be a job here for you.

The Office of Student Conduct, Complaints and Appeals (OSCCA) provides procedural advice, case handling and oversight for several student-related procedures. Additionally, OSCCA liaises with the external ombudsman, the Office of the Independent Adjudicator (OIA), where students can raise complaints following the completion of an internal University procedure. Each year, OSCCA produces a report for University committees and decision-makers, outlining case figures and analysing trends.

To support our expanding team, we are seeking a skilled Administrator. In this role, you will provide essential administrative and secretarial support to OSCCA staff to facilitate the efficient operation of all work undertaken. Key responsibilities include:

  • Serving as the first point of contact for OSCCA enquiries, responding promptly and tracking case progress
  • Taking minutes at student meetings and updating case information and office records
  • Organising meetings and events, as well as maintaining the OSCCA database, website, and SharePoint sites
  • Assisting with data report production
  • We are looking for a well-organised, tactful communicator with administrative experience. Due to the sensitive nature of OSCCA's work, the ability to maintain confidentiality and handle difficult information with resilience is essential. Proficiency in standard software packages is also required.

This role requires availability across the full working week. Like other teams within Education Services, OSCCA supports hybrid working, enabling some remote work when on-site presence is not required.

The University offers an excellent benefit package including:

  • 36 days annual leave, inclusive of Bank Holidays and office closure days
  • Defined benefits pension schemes
  • Flexible working options
  • Family-friendly initiatives
  • Career development opportunities
  • Support for health & mental wellbeing
  • Rental deposit scheme
  • Further information on the role can be found in the Further Particulars document, which you can find via a link at the bottom of the advert. In your application please tell us how you meet the criteria listed in the Further Particulars (the knowledge, skills, and experience required for the role) along with relevant examples. Candidates will be shortlisted and invited to interview based upon these criteria.

Informal enquiries are welcomed and should be directed to Nikki Bannister, Deputy head of OSCCA - Email: nikki.bannister@admin.cam.ac.uk

The closing day for interview is 11th December 2024

Interviews will be held in Cambridge on 8th January 2025
