Automation Support Engineer – shift based

Introduction to role:
Join our dynamic team as a Shift-Based Automation Support Engineer at AstraZeneca Macclesfield. You will be a crucial part of the Zoladex manufacturing and sterile packaging systems, providing 24/7 support to ensure the smooth operation of automated and computerised systems. Your role will involve troubleshooting and resolving issues with automation equipment and control systems, performing proactive and reactive maintenance, and implementing technical solutions to optimise production efficiency and ensure compliance with regulatory and quality standards.
Accountabilities:
Your role will involve sustaining and enhancing automation systems performance to meet manufacturing demands. You will be responsible for ensuring compliance with SHE, GMP & Financial regulatory, statutory and company standards. You will also have an awareness of local engineering budgets for activities within your area. As a leader, you will provide automation engineering support, coaching and developing teams in AstraZeneca’s business and engineering technologies.
This will be a shift position and the type of shift is subject to change to meet business requirements.
Essential Skills/Experience:
• Time served qualification or engineering graduate in relevant discipline
• In-depth knowledge of automation technology such as PLCs, Drives, Robots
• Working towards a professional qualification or membership of a professional body
• Significant & relevant experience of asset care practices within a regulated environment
• Specific knowledge of the technology application software for the Zoladex automation systems.
• Operating knowledge of procedures and compliance with GMP & SHE requirements.
• Application of maintenance processes e.g. RCM, CBM, TPM, Lean Tools etc
• Competent level knowledge of appropriate Lean methodology
• SAP PM User Certification
• Knowledge of IT systems where appropriate e.g. Mercury, ECMS, Microsoft Office, Microsoft Teams
• Principles of Continuous Improvement
• Quality Notification procedures
• GMP Change control procedures
Desirable Skills/Experience:
• Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or equivalent professional qualification
• Member of a relevant professional body
