Backend Software Developer

The Role Intrasonics is looking for a back-end/algorithms developer with a broad range of technical skills. The successful candidate thrives on getting involved in projects across multiple platforms and application areas and takes pride in producing great work and seeing it through to completion. Successful applicants will be joining at an exciting time in the company's life, with plenty of opportunities to work on blue-chip as well as greenfield projects.  What you’ll be doing: Developing back-end software infrastructure that provides the backbone of our end-to-end solutions Implementing interfaces to internal and third-party servers; Contributing to the company’s software strategy and architectures; Managing and prioritising multiple tasks; Project managing technical development where required; Communicate with customers to establish requirements.

In 2021, Intrasonics was acquired by their long-term partner Ipsos, the third-largest market research company in the world. The successful candidate will bring

  • A good technical degree or equivalent;

  • The willingness and ability to rapidly pick up new technologies; 
  • Flexibility in approach, and ability to adapt schedules against fast changing priorities; 
  • Thrive in working in a dynamic, small company environment. 

Essential Skills 

  • Experience in professional software development;
  • Bash, Zsh, or similar. Comfortable with the Unix command line;
  • Deductive reasoning and heuristic problem solving skills;
  • A solid understanding of software and API design; 
  • An understanding of software version control (preferably git) and problem tracking;
  • An ability to produce clear, informative supporting documentation.

Desirable Skills 

  • Bash,C,C++,CSS,HTML,Java,Javascript,PHP; 
  • ExpressJS,NodeJS,React,Redux; 
  • Cloud solutions experience using Amazon AWS or GoogleCloud; 
  • Deployment using Ansible or Terraform 
  • A solid understanding of software and API design; 
  • An understanding of software version control (preferably git) and problem tracking; 
  • An ability to produce clear, informative supporting documentation; 
  • Experience designing testable software and writing automated tests, as well as working with CI/CD systems;
  • Familiarity with Linux/Unix command-line; 
  • UI design.

Our office is based in Cambridge, but we have worked remotely throughout lockdown. Going forward we will combine remote working with coming into the office. Our office is a 5-minute walk to the local train station, making it an ideal location for commuters.
