Business Area
Global Engineering works closely with the Operations, R&D and Commercial functions within AstraZeneca to deliver major capital investments for the company (typically over $10million). The capital expansion program involves the engineering, construction and qualification of both new and growing assets. In addition to the asset provision activities, Global Engineering supports the Business by providing technical support to sites and other global functions.
Global Engineering is made up of a mixture of Project Managers, Project Control Specialists, Project Technical Managers and Subject Matter Experts. These positions fit into project teams and work directly with third party design and construction partners to deliver facilities that meet AstraZeneca’s requirements for safety, quality, time and cost.
What you’ll do
Lead a team of Control & Electrical Engineers providing resource to support the three pillars of Global Engineering and Real Estate's (GERE) value proposition of Strategic Advice, Project Execution and Enhancing Business Operations.
Provide technical leadership of the SMART Buildings & Infrastructure Team including resource allocation and provision, development of the team and all the associated line management accountabilities including the rewarding performance development process.
You'll be an expert in the area of SMART Buildings & Infrastructure and the application to manufacturing of medicines and able to provide feedback across the 3 value propositions of GERE including acting as the Technology Area Integrator for SMART Buildings & Infrastructure.
Using this expertise, you'll be part of wider networks providing technical input to relevant areas ensuring Control & Electrical resources are assigned to support these activities. This role, using your experience, may lead communities of practice ensuring appropriate dissemination and sharing of best practice across the manufacturing network.
Essential Requirements
Relevant technical/engineering degree
A consistent track record of working in pharmaceutical related engineering technologies with the technical expertise and ability to make connections between technology and delivering business value
Ability to prioritise and understand the impact of decisions made
Strong communication, influencing and relationship building skills with senior AZ customers, peers and third party suppliers
Ability to develop and foster innovation opportunities and lead any changes
Experience of managing/delivering the engineering technology aspects of projects / technology developments
Desirable Requirements
Post-graduate technical/engineering qualification
Ability to work in diverse multinational teams and confirmed ability to influence others to achieve positive outcomes
Good commercial awareness and understanding of global engineering technology innovations in the external market (political/economic and new trends)
Knowledge of industries outside pharmaceuticals
Knowledge of Lean design processes and their application
