Introduction to role:
Engineering and Technology Solutions (ETS) are a team of experts within GERE who are responsible for shaping and standardising AstraZeneca’s technology strategy whist ensuring delivery of compliant, innovative and reliable technology solutions into our facilities. We cover Pharmaceutical Processing & Packing, Automation, Built Environment and Commissioning & Qualification
Join us an Engineering Drug Product Lead at AstraZeneca, a place where innovation and coordination come together to support the most exciting missions on the planet. As a professional, you will provide functional leadership globally within the areas of pharmaceutical oral solid dose, sterile filling, packing and devices technology. You will establish appropriate technology processes and standards, aligned to business objectives. You will also provide technical leadership to high risk and/or high business impact projects.
As an Engineering Drug Product Lead, you will lead a team of Process & Packing Technology experts providing expertise to deliver the three pillars of GERE’s value proposition of Strategic Advice, Project Execution and Enhancing Business Operations.
You will be responsible for providing technical leadership of a distributed team across the globe. This will include resource allocation and provision, development of the team and all the associated line management accountabilities.
As part of wider technical networks you may lead communities of practice, ensuring appropriate funding and resourcing of strategic technology projects and effective dissemination of best practice across the manufacturing network. Close collaboration with relevant groups in Pharmaceutical Technology & Development and Operations Sites will be critical to success.
Relevant technical degree or equivalent
A consistent record of working in pharmaceutical related engineering manufacturing and or packing technologies with the technical expertise and ability to make connections between technology and delivering business value
Ability to prioritise and understand the impact of decisions made
Strong communication, influencing and relationship building skills with senior AZ customers, peers and third party suppliers
Ability to develop and foster innovation opportunities and lead any changes
Experience of leading/delivering the engineering technology aspects of projects / technology developments
Post-graduate Engineering qualification
Ability to work in diverse multinational teams and validated ability to influence others to achieve positive outcomes
Good commercial awareness and understanding of global engineering technology innovations in the external market (political/economic and new trends)
Knowledge of industries outside pharmaceuticals
Knowledge of Lean design processes and their application
Experience of leading and developing people
