At our ARU Writtle campus, we specialise in animal, environmental, agricultural and horticultural courses, for learners aged 16 to 18, adult learners, undergraduate and postgraduate levels.

Writtle College is nestled in the Essex countryside, and our 150-hectare campus features beautiful landscaped gardens, and state-of-the-art facilities. Our campus is home to specialised teaching spaces, focusing on animal, sport, environmental, agricultural and horticultural studies in our Further Education provision. We offer a mix of practical, and classroom-based learning, allowing our students to gain qualifications, and prepare for a rewarding career in their chosen field.

 

About the Role:

 

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Student Development Coach to be part of our Learning Support team. Term time for 38 weeks per year. 

 

The role holder will promote FE Student engagement and development aligned to Writtle College and Ofsted requirements, through the delivery of the group tutorial programme and wider extra-curricular activities, focusing on the personal development of learners and preparing them for future success at each stage of their education experience at Writtle College and the steps beyond.

 

You will deliver a range of topics including radicalisation, sexual harassment, peer-on-peer abuse, sexual grooming, British Values, Equality and diversity and other safeguarding subjects, whilst playing an integral role in induction, careers and work experience provision and Learner Voice, working closely with curriculum teams to ensure the best experience for each learner.

 

Furthermore, you will support the planning and delivery of group tutorial sessions that prepare learners for life in modern Britain, and also will make learners aware of the work experience options available to them, how their career aspirations relate to the training and employability skills gained through sourcing a work placement and to promote the use of GroFar.

 

Additionally, the role involves working with students on a 1:1 or small group basis to develop their skills and help them to overcome barriers to their learning and progress including exam stress management, workload, and meeting deadlines.

 

The successful candidate must be qualified to a minimum Level 3 standard within a relevant academic field and hold a relevant Level 2 qualification in English and Maths. Also, the applicant will ideally have experience in working with Further Education students and understand the Ofsted Education Inspection Framework.
