Finance Director - Aerospace

Although renowned for support to the Royal Air Force for almost 100 years, and particularly the C-130J fleet, it is now proud to support over 20 operators across the world. The Finance Director will partner the Managing Director in delivering an ambitious strategic vision for Marshall Aerospace utilising its heritage and unique market position.  This is a critical leadership role not only for the finance function but for the business more broadly. An exciting role for an ambitious and commercially astute candidate which will shape and implement strategy, major investment decisions, bids and potential acquisitions.  It requires someone with high intellect, clear thinking and communication, comfortable in dealing in detail as well as understanding and driving strategic direction.

Key responsibilities:

  • Leadership and accountability for all financial processes, capabilities, control, governance and reporting requirements as expected for a multi-national business
  • Lead the strategy and business planning process along with all FP&A activities.
  • Reviewing, enhancing and approving investment and capital allocation decisions and customer bids.
  • Providing leadership and creating a results driven culture across the business, partnering with the MD to develop and implement appropriate KPIs and insight into performance.
  • Interaction with external stakeholders such as auditors, customers or partners when required.
  • A figure head for the business internally within Marshall Aerospace, to its parent company, at Board meetings and elsewhere.


As a commercially focused FD you will be confident in making sound business decisions and thrive in an environment that is constantly evolving, challenging and transforming.

The ideal candidate:

  • The ideal candidate must be a qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA).
  • Previous experience working within as a divisional finance director or number one preferably in an international Aerospace & Defence or complex Engineering Services organisation
  • In depth exposure to strategy, operational, project management and business development issues.
  • High personal impact and credibility from which to challenge across all aspects of the business.
  • Clarity of thought, clear intellect and ability to communicate at all levels within the business.
  • A resilient, results driven but nevertheless pragmatic management style.
