Breakthrough technology is vital for strengthening the UK’s Defence and Homeland security. As a Firmware Engineer, you could be at the forefront of this innovation race by helping to defend and protect the UK from the latest technological and cyber threats.
Your work will have a real-world impact. You’ll get to explore pioneering concepts by collaborating with elite multi-disciplinary teams of highly educated and skilled scientists, engineers, and designers. It’s a fantastically challenging, varied and agile role. You’ll see ideas become a reality through the development of prototypes using Awerian’s rapid approach to design and implementation.
Using FPGA technologies, you’ll get to work on DSP design, DSP modelling, high and low speed peripheral interfacing, and embedded soft processor utilisation. Implementations may be in HDL, native block designs and may use tools such as Simulink HDL Coder or even a mix of several. You will need to be able to run simulations and testbenches and perform hardware-level debugging. We use both FPGA and system-on-chip designs from all major vendors and several projects use frameworks such as OpenCPI. Wide experience is highly beneficial (but not essential) so if you can demonstrate experience of high-speed electronics design, embedded software and/or hardware development and testing, and signal processing/algorithm design; you’ll thrive in this role.
Awerian is no ordinary research and development consultancy. Immediately you’ll be encouraged to share and implement your ideas - there’s no ‘newbie’ status, and you’ll benefit from our culture of freedom.
With little hierarchy, there are no corporate hoops to jump through. This, along with our flat structure, encourages mutual support, teamwork, and innovation. It also creates unique opportunities to develop skills in project leadership and client management to keep your professional development on track.
You’ll be supported by our team of experts. We’re a business of individuals – however, our curiosity brings us together and it drives what we do. Whether you’re leading a project or part of a team, the whole structure of Awerian is designed to help you connect, thrive, and feel included.
The projects are cutting-edge and confidential – so you’ll need to be eligible for UK security clearance. A record of academic excellence in Electronic Engineering and/or relevant experience as a Firmware Engineer will also help to ensure your application is shortlisted. We are keen to hear from both experienced applicants and electronic engineering graduates looking to focus on firmware / digital development.
