Cambridge Zero is the University of Cambridge's flagship climate initiative. Cambridge Zero's mission is to harness the full breadth of the University of Cambridge's capabilities to support the transition to a zero-carbon future, both in the UK and globally.
We are seeking an experienced communications professional to provide strategic oversight of Cambridge Zero's communication and public affairs activity. The Head of Strategic Communications and Public Affairs will work closely with stakeholders from across the University to develop and deliver a communications strategy and content in support of Cambridge Zero's ambitious mission.
The role will devise, manage and deliver the Cambridge Zero communication and policy engagement programme. Working closely with the Deputy Director (Strategic Development), the role will develop communications and public affairs strategy and undertake the necessary actions and activities to deliver this strategy.
The role holder will take executive decisions relating to communications and public affairs, and support delivery of the Cambridge Zero objectives, in line with the Cambridge Zero strategy. The role holder will work closely with the Cambridge Zero Director, Deputy Director(s) and senior members of the University.
The successful candidate will have proven experience in implementing successful strategies, media campaign planning, and developing written and visual content for international audiences. They will have strong relationship building skills and the ability to work successfully with partners within the organisation and externally, particularly with media outlets and policymakers.
