The Information Analyst/Advisor will work as part of the Health Informatics Team, which is responsible for bringing together partner organisations from across healthcare, higher education, industry and third sector organisations (e.g. charities) to deliver effective transformational programmes of work in the areas of health, research data, shared care records and cyber security across the East of England. The team also supports the work of the wider Eastern AHSN, harnessing the right data to develop digital solutions & analysis reports to enhance our work across all areas of the business.

You will contribute to developing an information culture focusing on the accuracy, quality, and use of information within Eastern AHSN and its associated external programmes of work. This role will require effective liaison and close working relationships with at all levels within the organisation, as well as other external stakeholders to ensure the following key objectives:

  1. That a high quality of information and data analysis is provided to support the effective management of a wide range of business, research and clinical programmes.
  2. To facilitate the organisation by providing an information service to support the implementation and roll out of key projects. This will include being involved in the development of new information delivery systems or the enhancing of existing information systems.
  3. The delivery and promotion of Information Governance and Cyber Security requirements and best practice, including supporting induction and training for Eastern AHSN staff.
  4. To deliver all workload requirements in accordance with Eastern AHSN’s policies and procedures.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

1.1     Information and Analytics

  • Carry out analysis, interpretation, and presentation of health datasets & information to demonstrate delivery, performance, and support evaluation and decision-making relating to key organisational deliverables
  • Interpret and report on results of analysis verbally, graphically and in written reports, attending meetings and providing briefings as required.
  • Triangulate and assess data and information from multiple sources. Respond to ad-hoc data analysis requests and support the development of routine reporting and analysis processes.
  • Provide advice and guidance to the organisation on data management, coding, systems and health data analysis and visualisation, for example statistical, forecasting, geographic mapping etc.
  • Process complex information in accordance with policies & procedures, investigating and resolving data management issues.
  • The ability to translate and communicate complex technical issues for non-technical audiences
  • Develop, design, and maintain health datasets and reports.
  • For assigned systems, datasets & reports, monitor data quality to identify issues, gaps or errors and resolve, suggest improvements or escalate as appropriate, accessing external support where required.
  • Develop/maintain expertise in assigned systems, data, and reporting processes to enable accurate and timely production of information.
  • Be familiar with and where appropriate train/advise users on relevant coding systems in assigned areas.
  • Be familiar with and where appropriate train/advise users on mandatory training requirements for information governance and security
  • Identify and investigate problems with data quality using reference data where applicable.

1.2     Technical Expertise and Support

  • Provide advice and guidance to staff on systems, information policy and specialist analysis for example statistical, forecasting, geographic mapping etc.
  • Support the development and maintenance of the organisation’s warehousing and reporting solution.
  • Engage in specific projects to develop and deliver effective support to the organisation across primary care, including surveys, audits, or research.
