Lab and Facilities Technician (Fixed Term)

Working as part of the Facilities team, you will support the CITIID Laboratory and Facilities Coordinator and work in partnership with the Building Services team to provide a high level of support across a multitude of areas.

Your duties will include in supporting Containment level (CL1, 2 and 3) Tissue culture laboratories, H&S Risk Assessments on communal equipment and supervision of cold rooms. The Department has implemented the use of vending machines for some consumables and you will liaise with suppliers, maintain stock control procedures, restock machines and arrange engineer visits, as required.

The role includes facilities duties within other buildings involving movement of compressed gases and liquid nitrogen tanks and to provide cover for the other facilities roles in their teams, in times of their absence. Full details of the role can be found in the accompanying Further Particulars.

The successful candidate will be computer literate and have the ability to work flexibly and support the other team members. Good communication and interpersonal skills are essential as the role involves interacting with the wider Department. As the post requires a large amount of manual handling, applicants should be certain that they are able to cope with the physical demands of the post.
