Lead Microfluidics Engineer

Leading the development of faster more capable microfluidic technology  This company’s technology enables cell science investigations to be carried out in a fraction of the current time frame. As they scale up to take their ingenious product to market, they are seeking a Lead Microfluidics Engineer to join their Cambridge-based development team.

As Lead Microfluidics Engineer, you would take ownership of this aspect of their system, providing technical leadership, and development of next-generation devices.  You will be working closely with colleagues from a broad array of technical specialties, and have hands-on involvement with designing, building, and evaluating prototypes as well as early-stage experimentation. Your role will also include carrying out analysis of results, and your insights from this will help improve future designs. With involvement spannng the full development lifecyle, you will be liaising with suppliers, managing supply chains, and helping with the transition of designs to manufacturing.

It is expected that you will have an excellent academic background, together with good problem solving, technical leadership, communication, and presentation skills. You will need to be a resourceful hands-on problem solver to thrive in this role.

Essential attributes and skills:
•    A 1st or 2.1 first degree in a relevant STEM subject, with strong A-level (or equivalent) grades, and a relevant master’s degree or PhD
•    Substantial practical experience of commercial R&D for microfluidic devices
•    Skills including, electromechanical design, 3D CAD, data analysis
•    Full existing UK work permission
