Be part of our global, growing enterprise at our Macclesfield site, where 50 different medicines are produced. We are looking for enthusiastic and highly capable Scientist/Senior Scientists to join our Early Chemical Development (ECD) team. You will work closely with manufacturing chemists, development chemists and analysts to drive science and innovation within drug projects.
As a core member of ECD, you will work flexibly across skill areas in GMP manufacture of drug substance and laboratory-based process design and development. You will develop chemical routes and processes for manufacture in the LSL, assess and develop complex multi-stage synthetic routes to new candidate drugs, and manufacture bulk drug substance for new product development. You will also provide technical support to the manufacture of intermediates and bulk drug batches, monitor reactions, quality of intermediates and final products using analytical methodology, and lead your own work to achieve project targets in a timely fashion. In addition, you will act as system owner for analytical equipment within manufacturing area
- Degree or equivalent in a Chemistry subject area
- Experience of a range of analytical techniques and equipment
- Good collaboration skills
- Strong communication (verbal and written) and influencing skills
- Good information management (recording of experimental and results)
- Understanding of principles and application of SHE and cGMP
- Experience in a lab-based synthetic organic chemistry or analytical chemistry role, ideally in an industrial environment
- Experience of chemical process development and support to scale up
- Ability to use literature databases
- Excellent analytical thinking and problem-solving skills
