External Supply and Manufacturing (ESM) supports the Operations strategy by establishing and managing suppliers across the world that meet our global standards. Through external suppliers, the team manages approximately one third of AstraZeneca’s value of production. ESM plays a key role in ensuring the external supply chains are robust and deliver value to AstraZeneca through driving continuous improvement.
This is an exciting secondment opportunity as a Network Optimisation Lead partnerto work effectively across the ESM functional teams and cross-functionally with Global Supply Chain, Procurement & Finance functions to develop and oversee delivery of a programme of work to deliver optimisation across the external portfolio to meet service, productivity and cash landmark targets.
As a Supply Chain Subject Matter Expert, you will be responsible for providing leadership support to Supply Optimisation team and the External Operations teams across the tactical S&OP horizon, maintaining alignment between key internal partners and contributing to optimized outcomes.
What you'll do:
Govern and lead the delivery of a programme of key initiatives for a given technology area to drive ongoing optimisation of service, cost, cash and sustainability aligned to business objectives, collaborating closely with Global Supply Chain, ESM Strategy Leads, External Ops teams & Procurement
Support the External Operations Teams and Global Supply chain team in the resolution of complex multi brand trade offs at our CMOs within the Tactical horizon
Provide SME support and leadership for the resolution of complex imbalances in the Tactical horizon, working in partnership with Global Supply Chain & Strategy and Ops teams to deliver optimal outcomes. You’ll represent ESM in the new Supply Chain set up process.
Partner with GSC&S and Procurement to identify and deliver Inventory improvements in the external supply chain.
Ownership for specific initiatives on behalf of Supply Optimisation– e.g Capacity, Inventory, Capability, Sustainability
Drive portfolio assessment of Risk across a Tech area and agree target areas for mitigation/improvement
Provide Supply Chain expertise into contractual discussions for new products and contract renewals
Advise GSC&S on optimal external set up for new SCs or changes
Essential skills & experience:
Degree or equivalent in Business, Logistics, Sciences or Engineering is preferred, equivalent experience will be taken into account
Strong experience in Supply Chain Environment (Manufacturing, Planning) and Supply & Operations Planning process
Advanced Supply Chain (inventory, capacity and network) planning skills
Experience in collaboration with the key interfaces within the end to end supply chain, with manufacturing and between supply chain and commercial functions – experience working with third party suppliers.
Excellent communications and collaboration skills required to manage a multitude of customers and partners
Experience in managing and developing solutions for Supply Chain events.
Proficient in using key Lean Tools
Desirable
APICS / CSCP or equivalent certification
Lean certification
Understanding of and contributing to an S&OP process.
Leadership experience
Operational Experience with ERP/APS systems
Capacity management & modelling
Understanding of supply chain planning parameters, master data and master data integrity & quality.
This position is being offered on a 12-month secondment or Fixed Term Contract basis.
