Doctoral Training Programme in Medical Research (DTP-MR)

Come and join exciting research community of the University of Cambridge's School of Clinical Medicine! We are offering at least nine fully funded four-year PhD studentships commencing in October 2024.

Studentships must be based in the School of Clinical Medicine and fall under one of the following research themes.

  • Neurosciences and Mental Health
  • Infections and Immunity
  • Molecular and Cellular Mechanisms of Disease
  • Data Science for Health

The programme is structured as 0.5 + 3.5, and in the first 6 months students will undertake two 3 month rotations projects in different laboratories. These projects will be in different disciplinary areas related to your field of research, and will allow refinement of your PhD project in line with your emerging research interests as the programme progresses. Potential projects will be advertised on the DTP-MR website, and applicants can choose up to 3 projects of interest. https://dtp-mr.medschl.cam.ac.uk/

Eligibility

Academic requirements: At least a 2:1 Honours degree from a UK university or equivalent in a related topic. If your degree is not from the UK, please check International Qualifications to find the equivalent in your country.

Residence Eligibility: UK students will be eligible for a full studentship, to include the costs of Home fees.

The DTP-MR Programme will be able to offer a limited number of studentships to international students, (EU and non-EU), with funding to cover both fees and a stipend to support living costs. These international studentship awards will be subject to eligibility, and also the availability of complementary funding (to provide the differential to the international fee rate).
