Project Manager

We are looking for a Project Manager to join our team in Royston. You will have at least 5 years Project Management experience in a similar high-tech, high-risk environment and a willingness to act as a facilitator to the project team – solving problems and removing roadblocks.

Inside the Corporate Research Group, the projects are unique, high risk and unpredictable. They can be exploratory in nature such that the project strategy must be often carefully re-considered in the light of latest progress. Most of the projects involve third parties i.e., university groups, research institutes, and start-up companies. Team members will come from wide variety of backgrounds – from internal engineers to external key thought leaders with unparalleled authority in their scientific field. The Project Manager will be responsible for helping to provide an environment that nurtures novel concepts that will affect future health treatment so will need to possess a genuine curiosity in the subject.

What you will accomplish together with us

  • Carefully define projects including scope and strategy.

  • Form and optimise the project team from the resources available within the Corporate Research Group and other partners to execute the project.

  • Provide thoughtful leadership, care, and motivation for the team.

  • Maintain helpful project plans that drive clarity and clear prioritisation.

  • Monitor project progress and take remedial action as required.

  • Become familiar with the project subject matter so that you can contribute efficiently.

  • Support teams to produce the technical and scientific breakthroughs, whilst taking on some management tasks; for example risk analyses, or robust supplier management to drive supplier performance.

  • Challenge the teams to drive projects forward by making sure that issues are identified, difficult decisions are taken, and efficiencies are sought.

  • Technical or Scientific background and experience.
