TWI is looking for a highly engaged and proactive person to work in the Public Funding Management Group based in Cambridge

Description of role:

  • Maintain strong relationships with project consortium members, ensuring timely delivery of the project mid-term, financial and deliverable reports.
  • Support Technical Project Leaders and Project Managers in liaising with the European Commission and Innovate UK from grant preparation (negotiation) to reports on project delivery, responding to any requests received in a timely and professional manner.
  • Deal with and respond to a range of partner queries, from administrative changes and contractual issues, to financial queries.
  • Monitor projects conducted by Technical Project Leaders to ensure timely submission of reports and deliverables against a specified work programme and ensure spend is within budget.
  • Carry out independent review of project reports to ensure alignment with work plan and adherence to TWI quality standards
  • Maintain information management systems according to TWI standards and procedures within the functional area and produce documents in line with TWI Corporate Style Manual
  • Excellent Microsoft Excel skills are required.
  • Work with Business Group Section Managers and Project Leaders to ensure successful technical and financial management of projects

Travel:

This position may require travel both in the UK and abroad.

Description of role

  • Maintain strong relationships with project consortium members, ensuring timely delivery of the project mid-term, financial and deliverable reports.
  • Support Technical Project Leaders and Project Managers in liaising with the European Commission and Innovate UK from grant preparation to reports on project delivery, responding to any requests received in a timely and professional manner.
  • Deal with and respond to a range of partner queries, from administrative changes and contractual issues, to financial queries.
  • Monitor projects conducted by Technical Project Leaders to ensure timely submission of reports and deliverables against a specified work programme and ensure spend is within budget.
  • Support the internal review process through timely delivery of financial reports and provision of appropriate assessment of the project from a contractual point of view.
  • Lead regular review meetings with Project Teams in order to monitor delivery against contract and ensure spend is in line with delivery
  • Carry out independent review of project reports to ensure alignment with work plan and adherence to TWI quality standards
  • Work with Business Group Section Managers and Project Leaders to ensure successful technical and financial management of projects
  • In conjunction with technical project leaders, agree/negotiate changes necessitated by alterations to the work programme or partner participation.
  • To process financial claims from partner organisations, reviewing levels of detail against a standard template.
  • Negotiate consortium agreement terms and conditions with support from the TWI Intellectual Property Team.
  • Propose remedial actions for projects which are in difficulty
  • Keep an up to date knowledge of complex European and UK Funding rules (desirable).
  • Conduct themselves in line with TWI’s values of teamwork, innovation, taking responsibility, customer focus, adaptability and respect.

 

This position will require regular travel both in the UK and abroad.

You will require UK security clearance for this role.

  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills with a working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Powerpoint.

  • Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills as the job requires presenting at project meetings.

 

Specific relevant experience

  • Knowledge of EC and IUK financial claiming process.
  • Working knowledge of interpreting Collaboration Agreements.
  • Working knowledge of the use of Great Plains and CRM
  • Experience of grant funding management or project management.
