The School of Arts and Humanities welcomes applications for a Research Grants Assistant to join the School Office team and work with research-focused staff across the School and wider University. This presents an exciting opportunity to work directly with researchers on their funding applications across a wide range of arts and humanities research areas and in building up the support service in this area.

The Research Grants Assistant will assist the School and its institutions in achieving excellence in research and in raising additional income through proactive promotion and enhancement of research activities. Working closely with research-focused colleagues across the School and the Research Office, the Research Grants Assistant takes a full part in pre-award processes; supporting individual research staff in making successful funding applications and advising on and putting into practice policies concerned with effective research funding management.

The successful candidate will support research active staff in applying for sponsored research through every stage of the applications process and will provide advice to faculties/centres on the set up of successful grant applications to allow for effective management of the grants when awarded. The role will also involve drafting and delivering reports on research activity within the School.

Candidates should be educated to at least HND, HNC, level 4/5 vocational qualification or have an equivalent level of practical experience and be an experienced user of Microsoft office software. Excellent organisational skills are essential for the role, along with the ability to communicate clearly and effectively with colleagues and researchers at all career stages. Previous experience of working with research grants or accounts-based experience is essential, and experience of working in an administrative role within Higher Education is highly desirable.

The role will involve a mixture of working from the School office in Mill Lane as well as from Departments mainly on the Sidgwick Site, central Cambridge, and working from home. We welcome applications from individuals who wish to be considered for part-time working or other flexible working arrangements.

Fixed-term: The funds for this post are available for 24 months in the first instance.
