About the role:

The Safety & Security Officer role is a shift working position covering 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.  This is an exciting and challenging role ensuring that our students, staff, and visitors are kept safe on our campuses.  Whilst there are some traditional security elements within the role, we are looking for candidates who can adapt to a wide range of challenges, with the ability to communicate positively with people from different backgrounds an essential skill.  In addition to carrying out patrols and operating / monitoring security systems, you will be responding to incidents that range from minor crime to supporting people in mental health crisis.

 

We have 2 vacancies, 1 at our Cambridge campus  and 1 at our Peterborough campus.

 

You will be flexible in your approach to work and will be able to work a 12-hour shift system within a 4 days on, 4 days off duty roster, including weekend working.  Shift duties will alternate between day and nighttime duty shifts.  A full UK driving license is essential.

 

You will have experience in working in a customer focussed environment, and be willing to be trained in the provision of first aid.  The ability to work on your own initiative and problem solve are essential.  Report writing skills will be tested as part of the application process.
