There is an opportunity for a Scientist to join our research team to make an important contribution to our development of these innovative materials.
Sumitomo Chemical is committed to sustainable development and is uniquely positioned as a chemical company to implement the changes required to combat climate change. This role is within the Analytical team where you will collaborate with CDT’s multi-disciplinary technical teams to progress projects through the characterisation of novel materials and provision of high-quality analysis and interpretation to understand how purity and physical properties correlate to performance in applications.
We thrive on collaboration and discussion between teams to identify solutions to problems and progress our work along innovative avenues and encourage our teams to identify and promote their own ideas and proposals to solve our scientific challenges. You will have an inquiring mind, with an ability and desire to solve problems and learn new skills, and an interest in the link between material properties and their performance in applications. You will be qualified to PhD level in chemistry, materials science, chemical analysis, or a related subject, or alternatively hold a chemistry degree with equivalent relevant work experience. In addition, you will ideally have work experience gained in a material science or analytical role gained within either and industrial or academic environment. Your expertise will be in the characterisation of materials and identification of impurities by liquid chromatographic techniques, including LC-MS and HPLC, coupled with the detailed interpretation of analytical chemistry results and data to draw clear conclusions and recommendations. Experience of other analytical techniques would be advantageous.
