Senior Scientist (Chemist) - On Market Technical

Join our multi-skilled On Market Technical group at AstraZeneca, where we are dedicated to the technology transfer and lifecycle management of commercial active pharmaceutical ingredients (API). As a Senior Scientist, you will play a crucial role in ensuring robust technology transfer, validation, and manufacturing to maintain continuity of supply and ensure license to operate.

We also strive to continue to deliver business value through optimisation and redesign of manufacturing process and controls, alongside new supply chain designAstraZeneca currently manufactures a high percentage of commercial API externally with CDMOs, however we are excited to be establishing a new launch facility in Dublin over the coming years. AstraZeneca have >60 commercial API 

Accountabilities:
As a Senior Scientist, you will be responsible for supporting the technical contribution to maintain and optimise supply for one or more AstraZeneca commercial products. You will identify, develop and implement process improvements for commercial products through the use of existing and cutting-edge technologies. You will also provide expert technical input to change control and improvement activities at CMOs and internal AZ API manufacturing sites. Your role will also involve authoring or providing a significant contribution to the CMC components of regulatory submissions and preparation of successful query responses over the commercial life of a product.

Essential Skills/Experience:
- BSc/PhD level education in a relevant discipline and experience working within a Research & Development or Manufacturing environment, within the pharmaceutical industry.
- Technical expertise and understanding of practical synthetic organic chemistry.
- A good understanding of the overall drug development process from discovery through to launch.
- Experience of technical supervision and leading small teams of people or scientific projects.
- A thorough understanding of the principles and management of SHE and cGMP.

Desirable Skills/Experience:
- Experience of delivering CMC content or contributions to regulatory filings throughout the life cycle of process development, in the pharmaceutical industry.
