Stores Assistant (Part Time)

Once an offer of employment has been accepted, the successful candidate will be required to undergo a health assessment.

Raise purchase orders for goods and services using the University's online Procurement system, ensuring charges are allocated to correct Department Accounts/Research grants with correct VAT types.

Sourcing products on request to ensure items purchased are suitable to meet the diverse needs and requirements of end users. Ordering oligos, peptides and primers using supplier online systems. Negotiate prices with suppliers, in conjunction with Stores Supervisor, to obtain value for money.

Deal with price queries and price amendments. Responsible for the usage and safe keeping of the Departmental

Purchasing Credit Card during Stores Supervisor's absence, obtaining approval from the Assistant Secretary, Finance & Procurement, to place purchasing card orders

Liaise with suppliers to ensure goods are delivered within specified timeframes, are of the quality and price expected, and resolve any queries.

Check goods on arrival against delivery notes and orders, receive deliveries online whilst liaising with Accounts Office, issue goods, monitor and maintain stock levels, update stock inventory information. Arrange returns to suppliers and resolve supplier/end user misunderstandings as required. Maintain consignment stock for selected suppliers

Verify fixed assets held, on a regular basis. Updating the University's finance system to reflect amendments/additions/disposals. Liaising with all staff to ensure accuracy of details held.

Guide end users on University Procurement policy and procedures in Stores Supervisor's absence, assisting with obtaining signed University Terms & Conditions relating to purchasing, to ensure the Department and University are protected.

Retrieve documentation for Assistant Secretary, Finance & Procurement, and auditors as required.

Ensure correct handling and storage of hazardous materials and obtain and distribute associated material safety data sheets.

Organise the return of hazardous containers to suppliers along with the relevant paperwork.

Assist the Stores Supervisor in the preparation and stock take activity, to ensure the online stock reflects actual stock held.. Arrange store space to maximise efficiency, ensure the tidiness and security of stores and take appropriate safety precautions.

Liaise with import/freight agencies regarding VAT charges and duties applicable to overseas purchase orders.

Other: Any other duties commensurate with the nature and grade of the role as required by the Head of Department.
