About the project:

A strategic level project which aims to design, develop and implement an innovative Supply Chain Sustainability Toolkit and sustainable packaging solutions in line with Hexcel customer requirements.

About Hexcel Composites Ltd:

Hexcel is a global leader in manufacturing advanced composite materials for the commercial aerospace, space and defence and industrial markets.  They are a leading producer of carbon fibre reinforcements and resin systems, and the world leader in honeycomb manufacturing for the commercial aerospace industry.

Hexcel has a highly integrated supply chain operating over 20 manufacturing sites across UK, Europe and the US, with varied manufacturing technologies and product forms.

About the role:

You will design, develop and implement an innovative supply chain sustainability toolkit and sustainable packaging solutions in line with Hexcel customer requirements. The position will develop a live dashboard to enhance capability to monitor, measure and reduce environmental impacts and facilitate future decision making within Hexcel and across the supply chain.

The role will be critical in managing data collection and governance processes of environmental sustainability reporting metrics, ensuring high reporting capabilities to different levels of company leadership, and identifying/rolling out sustainable approaches across downstream supply chain.

You will work with, and be supported by, a senior team within Hexcel and a specialist academic team from ARU’s Faculty of Business and Law - including a dedicated supervisor in both organisations. Whilst you will be employed by ARU for the duration of the fixed term contract, you’ll be based full-time at the company's premises in Duxford, Cambridgeshire.

A generous, dedicated training budget will be allocated to support your personal, professional and technical development throughout the project.

You will have a degree in Environmental Management, Supply Chain or Computer Science. Data management and reporting experience, strong data analytics, Power BI or SQL experience and knowledge of sustainable supply chain management is essential for this role. You will also have knowledge of logistics, warehousing and packaging, environmental metrics and lifecycle assessment of environmental impacts. Ideally, you’ll be passionate about environmental protection and decarbonisation.

For an informal discussion please contact Associate Professor, Helen Benton at helen.benton@aru.ac.uk.

Owing to the sensitivity of the work carried out by Hexcel Composites Ltd - where the post will be based - all applicants in order to be eligible to apply, must be a UK/EU national with the right to work in the UK.
