Evinova
Evinova is a health-tech business, accelerating the delivery of better health outcomes by propelling the life sciences sector forward in digital health, from the inside.   • At AstraZeneca, we see the huge potential for digital solutions to make the whole healthcare sector more effective and to dramatically improve patient experience and outcomes. 

  • We have already made strategic investments in digital health to improve patient experience and accelerate getting new medicines to patients. 

  • Digital transformation is happening at pace within the healthcare industry. However, we experienced first-hand that there were gaps in terms of the solutions currently available, which were not fully meeting the needs of patients, clinical trial sites, or sponsors.  

  • We recognised that the sector needs mature, established solutions that seamlessly integrate different elements into long-lasting solutions. So, we decided to do something about it.  

  • We originally invested in crafting a portfolio of novel digital solutions to accelerate our drug portfolio and improve our patient and site experience and outcomes, with demonstrated benefits (See: Nature Medicine). 

  • We now see the opportunity to combine AstraZeneca’s scientific leadership with the digital expertise and technologies we have developed to offer a range of digital health solutions to the industry. 

  • We are therefore establishing an independent health-tech business with the long-term backing of AstraZeneca – Evinova– to bring these solutions to market.  

  • In so doing, we are focusing on the huge potential for digital health to transform our collective effectiveness and fundamentally improve how new treatments are developed and how people are diagnosed and treated.  

  • The VP of Business Development of Evinova will be deputy to the Chief Commercial Officer and the plan is to have succession planning for the CCO with this role.

  • The VP of business development has overall accountability for new relationships of commercial sales for Evinova. with a global remit from strategy development, to the full business development process from awareness, discovery, consideration, go through procurement processes for system validation, and contract.

  • They will lead the overall global Commercial strategy for Evinova. Covering the long-term business commercial strategy, pricing, marketing approach for the product and services, and short-term priorities to meet agreed goals, including all product marketing strategy, pricing strategy, customer segmentation, prioritisation, hiring the commercial team, and meeting commercial top-line goals.

  • Led an organisation of permanent plus contractors in global locations, covering sales, marketing, and operational sales activities across the US, Europe, Japan, and China.

  • External leading figure and thought leader, attracting new customers across the top 5 CROs, top 20 pharma companies, and top biotech organisations.

Major Duties and Responsibilities

  • Defining and leading the commercial sales and input to marketing strategy development globally for Evinova, business development activities to identify new leads, ensuring marketing activities are in place, and landing sales to grow the entity from external revenue.

  • VP of Business Development will be responsible and accountable for key decisions related to customer segmentation, pricing, and providing critical input to product strategy and roadmap prioritisation.

  • Lead the execution of the commercial strategy with the new organisation setting up vision and direction, as well as leading the marketing and sales function.

  • Lead the Commercial efforts to develop strategic collaborations with large CROs, Pharma companies, and Biotech companies. Including revenue and contribution targets by year. Contracting and pricing.

  • Setting up the new global entity externally from a marketing perspective including online presence, conferences, and round tables of senior executives to ensure the external presence is enabling revenue generation.

  • Ensure products are leading in the industry, both those already developed and new ones.

  • Solving issue and handling risks as it relates to customers.

  • And ensuring that customer services and customer operations are in place, therefore owning the full end-to-end customer journey from sale to support.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field

  • Advanced degree desired

  • Thought leader well-known in the industry with extensive experience in software sales and delivery of commercial value

  • Significant experience in commercial sales in this sector, software for pharma.

  • Exceptional network and sales experience externally and well recognised and reputation.

  • Significant experience in Commercial and Operational management.

  • Extensive experience bringing innovation to solve complex and multi-dimensional issues from an operational, technical, financial, and human perspective.

  • Proven leadership in building high-performing teams with new capabilities.

  • Proven ability to influence at the most senior level in external organisations to get to sales.

  • Proven experience driving global change in complex organisations.

  • Significant knowledge and experience in sales, marketing, and pricing.

  • Organizational agility -- builds consensus through formal and informal channels and relationships; organizationally savvy

  • Passionate to improving patients' experience and outcomes

  • Customer focus -- dedicated to meeting the expectations and requirements of internal and external customers

  • Integrity and trust – an unwavering commitment to "doing the right thing"

  • Bringing new and revolutionary knowledge of the external market and techniques
