An early morning first for Lauri at Cambridge Aero Club

19-03-2014

Finnish born Lauri Bora, who works as an Engineer with ARM in Cambridge, was the first Cambridge Aero Club customer to take advantage of the Aero Club’s extended opening hours, which enable Aero Club members to take a flying lesson on their way to work in the morning!

I live in Cambridge and I am really enjoying learning to fly with the Cambridge Aero Club.  I have always wanted to fly back in Finland and I really enjoy flying over England.

Lauri arrived at the Cambridge Aero Club’s premises at Cambridge International Airport just after 7.00am on Tuesday 18 March to fly a Cessna 172 training aircraft.  After a brief check-out flight with Chief Flying Instructor Anthony Cooke, Lauri spent the next 40 minutes flying solo in the calm still air over Cambridge.

Cambridge Aero Club, Managing Director, said: ‘There is a huge demand from local people in Cambridge wanting to learn to fly, but for many finding time to do it has been a challenge, because in the past the Cambridge Aero Club’s opening hours have been very closely aligned to people’s working hours.  As a result of a real public demand to be able to have a flying lesson, either on the way to work, or on the way home from work, the Cambridge Aero Club is now offering flying instruction from 7.00am until 9.00pm.’
