Five ways to maximise productivity on business trips

When away on business, time is precious and maximising your productivity is paramount. Using your time carefully will make for a successful trip and increasing your productivity for the full duration can be done with just a few tweaks to your planning.

  1. Choose your hotel carefully.
Taking the time to choose a hotel can have many benefits. Choosing a room with a separate office area means you can work out of your room and not share any conference facilities. With no distractions you can have any work complete in far less time. Location also matters but closer doesn’t always mean better. If you have several places to visit, choose a hotel with good transport links to get you to all of them on time and with less stress.

  2. Organise your time well.
Planning your meetings, presentations and conferences is a top priority but this can often leave plenty of time unaccounted for. This time can be used to maximise your productivity. Arrange a brainstorming session over breakfast or use lunch to touch base with colleagues back home to ensure you are up to date at all times. Research locations before arranging a meet so you can choose what works for you and means you won’t end up hopping back and forth across the city.

  3. Book some relaxation.
It may be tempting to overlook your free time and be on the go 24/7 but working non-stop is counterproductive. Make sure to schedule some down time as an overtired and overworked brain will be of little use to you. Unwind after work with a show or dinner out or if you have evening engagements, make the most of an early morning jog or swim. Find what works with your schedule before you set off and don’t be tempted to skip it.

  4. Charge your gadgets.
The last thing you need is your tablet, phone or laptop running out of power at an inconvenient moment. Make sure all of your gadgets are fully charged before you go and eliminate the stress of forgetting a charger by packing this lightweight Spidermonkey Hub.  For remote locations consider investing in a solar-powered charger such as the Freeloader Supercharger to ensure you never run out of power.

  5. Work on the go.
Working in the car, on the plane or train means you aren’t wasting time on travel. Check your work is stored where you can access it easily and that any links and passwords are all correct before you set off. If you need internet access, consider buying a mobile WiFi dongle before you go. Or why not leave that worry to us and book a car to transport you in comfort so you can use of our complimentary WiFi and make every second a productive one!?
