Cambridge's new County Court complete

Turnstone Estates has completed the development of of the new County Court on East Road, Cambridge.

The 33,970 sq ft four-storey courthouse, designed by Hurd Rolland and CMC Architects and constructed by Haymills, provides three new court rooms and six hearing rooms, equipped with video facilities and improved waiting areas, enabling theCambridge's New County Court Complete hearing of complex cases and offering privacy in cases of sensitivity.



Located on the site of the former drill hall, the property replaces the current court in Bridge House, which does not meet the present and anticipated workload.



Chris Goldsmith, managing director of Turnstone Estates, comments: 'The building is designed to positively enhance the surrounding areas, as well as meet the urgent requirement of Her Majesty's Court Service to provide improved justice facilities in Cambridge.'



Mike Littlewood, group manager of the southern eastern circuit for the Department of Constitutional Affairs (DAC) adds: 'The new premises gives Cambridge Court much improved modern accommodation, more appropriate for providing excellent service in civil and family work for the public in Cambridge.'



The development was forward-funded by a group of private investors for 15.75 million and pre-let to the Department of Constitutional Affairs on a 35-year lease at a rent of 21 per sq ft.
