Charity Medieval Banquet

30-09-2002

Local Cambridge companies are looking forward to minstrels, fire-eating and magic as the atmosphere of a real Medieval Court is re-created in The Great Hall of Homerton College.

On Saturday, November 2, 200 guests will arrive by torchlight to a reception of mulled wine and Medieval music before being piped to their tables for a hearty feast. Amongst them will be Christopher Biggins, star of 'Cinderella' at the Cambridge Arts Theatre this Christmas, and Carenza Lewis, co-star of Tony Robinson in BBC's Time Team.

During the evening, a live auction organised by Grounds & Co Auctioneers will offer unique and valuable items belonging to stars such as Nikki Lauder, David Beckham, Alan Titchmarsh, Kenneth Branagh and the England Football Team. There will also be a Silent Auction, a Grand Draw and a variety of games with great prizes to be won including a stay in one of the Designer rooms at Sheene Mill, Steve Saunders idyllic 17th century water mill at Melbourn.

Emma Holbrook of East Anglia's Children's Hospices, organisers of the event, said, 'This is the first Medieval Banquet ever organised by the hospice and we are grateful to our main sponsors (i2 Limited, HSBC, Bailey Fisher and Opta Design) for helping us get the event off the ground. Thanks also go to local companies who have chosen our event to host their client and staff entertainment in the run up to the festive season.'

Limited places are available by contacting Emma Holbrook on 01480 463223 or email Emma Holbrook. Tickets are priced at 45 each. Group bookings also available.

All proceeds raised from the event will go directly towards the provision of respite and terminal care at East Anglia's Children's Hospices for children who suffer from conditions that mean they are not expected to live to adulthood.
