Lord Sainsbury back in town for CIR Conference on Friday at New Hall

Lord Sainsbury will now attend this popular, high-level event that will define the region's strengths and discuss how to build bigger businesses in R&D/manufacturing.

During the day, there will be a very strong panel for a lengthy Q&A with Lord Sainsbury joined by Hermann Hauser, Mike Gregory, Gerald Avison and Howard Biddle.

The successful November 15 CIR High Value Manufacture East 2002 Conference at New Hall College Cambridge has attracted a unique roster of manufacturing experts, including Stuart Evans, CEO, PlasticLogic, Scott Brown, R&D Director, Cambridge Display Technology, and Richard Archer, CEO, the Automation Partnership. Sponsored by InvestEast, Mills & Reeve, YTKO, Natwest Bank, IP City, Connect Resourcing and Marks & Clerk, the one-day conference debates disruptive technology, innovative processes, and new business models for technology-based manufacturing.

Hermann Hauser of Amadeus Capital Partners, a keynote speaker and panellist, said: 'It is good to support an event that highlights both Cambridge R&D and regional high value manufacturing companies, in particular, bringing together such a range of business talent, and asking and giving them structured time to tackle tough, widely relevant questions of specialist manufacturing and value chains.'

Event organisers Cambridge Investment Research Ltd have assembled an array of business talent for the conference, and are launching a major report on the region's manufacturing skills, funded by Invest East. Amongst other themes, the project looks at where production resources match the needs of research and development companies with deep technology, as they prototype and demonstrate their products. As demand triggers manufacturing expansion, the report shows specific opportunities for the region to invest and compete in world markets.

'We are delighted to present this research and enable debate and discussion in this area of opportunity as we strive to support inward investment in the E Etern Region', said James Gray, CEO, InvestEast.

Other sponsors: Mills & Reeve, NatWest RBOS, Connect Resourcing, YTKO, IP-City, Marks & Clerk.

Conference manager: CIR Ltd 01223 303500.
