14-11-2003

Deloitte has become a Premier Sponsor for CORDIA - EuropaBio Convention, which takes place the 2-4 December in Vienna, Austria.

Deloitte's decision to be a major sponsor of CORDIA has been driven by the convention's successful build-up amongst the international biotech community, putting it on course to represent a major global event for the industry.

Mr Stuart Henderson, partner at Deloitte, who will chair the closing plenary of the conference on the 4th December, commented: 'This year has been an exciting one in the European biotech sector. Several high profile product successes, encouraging clinical trial results and a long overdue kick-start to consolidation have led to a feeling of optimism within the sector. '

' CORDIA - EuropaBio convention 2003 has attracted major interest within the industry around the world. In addition to the US and Australia, ever more countries from Europe, Asia, and the Middle East are joining our event', said Mr. Hugo Schepens, Secretary General for EuropaBio and Chairman of CORDIA's Steering Group.

He added: 'CORDIA is on track to become the major international forum needed by the biotechnology industry in Europe.'

CORDIA'S exhibition will combine national pavilions with independent stands featuring leading biotech and pharmaceutical companies, and key industry advisors including VCs, lawyers and consultants. The growing list of countries that will be represented so far include: Austria, Australia, Belgium, Czech Republic, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Hungary, India, Ireland, Israel, Italy, Japan, The Netherlands, Norway, Portugal, Slovakia, Sweden, Switzerland, the United Kingdom, and the United States.
