Dragonmobility, one of axiom-e's clients, were finalists for the Barclays Award at the Cambridge Evening News Business Excellence Awards 2007.

In this category the judges were looking for commercially viable businesses where there is a strong emphasis on helping the community. Barclays is keen to be seen as a champion of local businesses, and likes the idea of businesses themselves championing good causes.

Founded by Dan Everard, who designed the first powerchair for toddlers,  Dragonmobility designs and manufacturers unique, technologically advanced powered wheelchairs and so helps to provide increased independence for users.

Up against two other strong contenders, Dragonmobility gained a Finalist's certificate for this prestigious award.

Staff were joined at the gala presentation dinner at King's College by one of their customers, Robin Tovey, who had come from the USA to collect her new SnapDragon powerchair that very day.

After such a short time using her chair, it was impressive to see Robin negotiating the twists and turns of King's College so expertly in her powerchair which works in an extremely intuitively way. When asked how she was getting on with her chair, Robin replied "It is just like my original Turbo only even better."

Named after the first production powerchair designed by Dan Everard, The Turbo Trust (a registered charity) has been set up to help raise funds to assist severely disabled people to obtain innovative powered wheelchairs.
