The Meteor print controller, which drives industrial inkjet print heads, was one of several innovative new products from TTP that were assessed for the 2008 Innovation and Design Excellence Awards (iDEA 08).
Meteor inkjet print component business helps TTP to win top innovation award
TTP won accolades for Design Collaboration, were declared ‘Best Design Consultancy,’ and won the overall prize for ‘Innovation and Design Excellence’.
TTP’s Meteor™ print controller was developed just two years ago to accelerate time-to-market for OEM’s planning to introduce new industrial inkjet equipment. Meteor supports leading printheads such as the Xaar® 1001, Dimatix Spectra®, and Toshiba TEC printheads. Customers have been won from countries around the world and in applications ranging from large format scanning printers to single-pass digital presses. Meteor is also used in the emerging functional inkjet industry where the output is not graphics but a patterned deposition of functional materials.
The iDEA awards are run annually by UK publications: Eureka and New Electronics together with Cranfield School of Management (a leading UK university). The assessment covers how TTP is run as well as the innovation and market impact of the products that TTP has developed. Meteor was assessed as an example of how TTP identifies a market need through its industry contacts as Europe’s largest independent product development services provider and then invests to produce a platform technology or product to satisfy that need.
