Ball and Tonejet sign long-term technology agreement

Tonejet, producer of advanced electrostatic drop-on-demand digital print engines, announces that after a joint development programme and following prototype and pilot phases in Germany it has signed a strategic technology purchase and intellectual property rights licence agreement with Ball Packaging Europe (Ball).

The agreement extends and guarantees technology access to Tonejet print engine technology for various printed packaging applications that Ball develops worldwide.

Ray Southam, CEO of Tonejet said, “This agreement gives Ball the possibility to deploy Tonejet technology throughout the corporation. The agreement will allow Ball to utilise Tonejet technology and products that are valuable to its own packaging developments.”

There is also a global maintenance and support services agreement which ensures that Ball has access to Tonejet’s support in next-generation packaging print applications across the world.

Gerrit Heske, President of Ball Packaging Europe said, "I've been personally involved in that project with Tonejet and its technology from the beginning. I know that the potential offered to brand owners by new package-print flexibility presents both our businesses with some truly new opportunities.”

Southam concluded, “Now Ball has certainty over the long-term supply of our digital printing technology it can further collaborate with similar businesses which can benefit from the use of Tonejet products. This agreement typifies what companies need to allow them to collaborate more closely during new process developments. I firmly believe that the easiest way that major advances can be made profitably during recession is through such close collaboration.”
