02-03-2016

Sobi is delighted to announce its first charity ball, being held to raise money for three important charities. The ball will be held on Friday 8th April 2016 in The Great Hall at Homerton College, Cambridge, with arrival drinks from 6:30pm. Tickets are nearly gone so please get in touch if you wish to come along.

All are welcome to attend the black tie event where there will be welcoming drinks, a delicious three course meal, table wine, music, fun and entertainment with fabulous prizes to be won and plenty of opportunities to support these fantastic charities.

Proceeds from the ball will be equally split between Cambridge Rare Disease Network, Genetic Alliance UK and The Haemophilia Society UK.

Cambridge Rare Disease Network

The Cambridge Rare Disease Network is a not-for-profit organisation based in Cambridge, UK. Our mission is to bring together the active stakeholders in rare disease research and development, to foster dialogue and to increase awareness. We organise events to bring together patients, activists, entrepreneurs, academics, healthcare professionals and policy makers.

“Alone we are rare, together we are strong! Cambridge Rare Disease Network thank SOBI for inclusion as beneficiaries at the SOBI Ball.”  Kay Parkinson - CEO

Genetic Alliance UK (and their campaign Rare Disease UK)

Genetic Alliance UK is the national charity working to improve the lives of patients and families affected by all types of genetic conditions. We are an alliance of over 180 patient organisations.

Rare Disease UK (RDUK) is the national alliance for people with rare diseases and all who support them. We believe that everyone living with a rare disease should be able to receive high quality services, treatment and support.

“Genetic Alliance UK are delighted to have been chosen by SOBI as a partner in their first Charity Ball. This will be a fantastic opportunity to showcase our work to a new audience, highlight the challenges faced by those with rare diseases and the work that is being done to support them, and to have a great night out in a splendid venue. An opportunity not to be missed.”                 Alastair Kent - Director

The Haemophilia Society UK

We are the only UK wide charity for everyone affected by a bleeding disorder: a community of members, supporters and healthcare professionals. We help people with bleeding disorders to lead fulfilling lives, make informed choices and to support and inspire others.

“We are delighted to be involved in the planning for the forthcoming Charity Ball next spring as it helps us to strengthen our partnership with Sobi and to enhance the lives of people living with Haemophilia.  We are especially proud of the our new Young People and Youth Ambassadors activities which we started in 2015 and will be central to our work in 2016 as part of our new 7 Key Life Stages of support to our members.

"I wish everyone at Sobi good luck with the planning and look forward to a dazzling night of entertainment on 8th April!”                  Liz Carroll - CEO

“Sobi is an international specialty healthcare company dedicated to rare diseases. Our mission is to develop and deliver innovative therapies and services to improve the lives of patients.’’

"A very valuable way that we can help patients is through working with patient groups. I am often amazed about how much help, with very little resource, a patient group can give to patients, their family and friends. In addition they play a major role in shaping the political landscape around the condition that impacts on their members and often the work from the patient group leads to significant change around the support of the management of that condition that then has an incredibly positive impact on those affected. We try to help as much as we can knowing that any contribution we make is always magnified by the dedicated people who make up the patient groups," said Neil Dugdale, General Manager of Sobi in the UK.

Tickets are £65 per person and are available by contacting 01638 722380 or mail.uk@sobi.com
