Bubble Rush 5K set to return to Huntingdon’s Riverside Park this summer
Fun filled and foamy, Bubble Rush 5K was a delight for the 650 ‘Bubblers’ who ran, walked or jogged the 5K course last year, with 2017 promising to build upon this previous success.
Bubble Rush 5K - organised by Arthur Rank Hospice Charity in association with Extreme Adventure - is the only event of this kind in the county. It attracted local media and TV coverage last summer and was enthusiastically received and talked about by all those who took part in 2016, its inaugural year. Now in year two, registrations opened for the event on Friday (27 January), with over a hundred bookings taken in the early hours: you too can now sign up to brave the bubbles with family, friends and colleagues!
Carly Love, Inpatient Unit Matron at Arthur Rank Hospice Charity, who took part last year with her five year old son, adds: “There’s nothing else like it round here and the best thing was that Archie and I could do it together. He totally loved it: I carried him through some of the deeper bubble stations but he had his light sabre and was slicing through the bubbles as we went! I’d say it’s the kind of 5K which anyone can do whatever their age. In fact, I’m actually recruiting a team from our Inpatient Unit nursing team this year, kids and all!”
‘Bubblers’ are invited to accessorise with colourful tutus, sunglasses, wings and wigs, before running, jogging, walking, dancing, hopping, or push chair’ing through five foam stations, which whoosh out a fantastic 30 cubic metres of colourful foam per minute.
Tasha Auburn, Events Officer at Arthur Rank Hospice Charity, says: “We host a number of exciting events each year but none quite like this! We’re delighted to be bringing Bubble Rush 5K back to Huntingdon. We’ve had lots of people register and hundreds more show their interest and join the Event on our Facebook Page. The event has such a buzz about it: music gets everyone in the mood before the foam-fest begins; friends and family offer each other ‘bubble cuddles’ along the route; and participants soak up the feel good factor whilst knowing they’re raising vital funds.”
Arthur Rank Hospice Charity’s website is now taking bookings for Bubble Rush 5K, with a limited early bird offer of £17.50 for adults and £7.50 for children (after 29 May, registration fees increase by £2.50). Please visit http://www.arhc.org.uk/bubble-rush-registration.asp or call 01223 675777.
Participants receive a finisher’s medal as well as a free white Bubble Rush branded t-shirt to wear on the day… although as you can see from the photos, it will not remain white for long!

Arthur Rank Hospice Charity supports people in Cambridgeshire living with an advanced serious illness or a life-limiting condition and those who need end-of-life care. Our ‘Outstanding’ services are provided free of charge to patients and their families.
We care for more than 4,100 patients each year at our Hospice in Cambridge, the Alan Hudson Day Treatment Centre in Wisbech and in patients’ own homes via the Arthur Rank Community Team. This care supports people to improve their quality of life and fulfil their end of their life choices.
It will cost £10.5 million in 2021/2022 to run our services, which are provided free of charge to patients and their loved ones. We have currently secured £6.98 million from the NHS, meaning that £3.52 million needs to be raised through donations, fundraising activities and trading. We are extremely grateful to our local community for the continual dedication, commitment and generosity they show in supporting us to meet this target.
