Darktrace, the world’s leading AI company for cyber defence, has today announced that one of Taiwan’s largest telecommunications companies, kbro, has selected Darktrace’s AI technology to strengthen its cyber resilience to stealthy ‘unknown unknowns’ and insider threats.
Taiwanese telco giant powers cyber security with Darktrace
The Taiwanese telco joins a growing number of industry leaders in Asia Pacific, including Telstra, M1 Limited and CITIC Telecom, stepping up their cyber security with Darktrace’s Enterprise Immune System.
“Darktrace has opened our eyes to risks which would have otherwise escaped our attention,” commented Chipin Chen, IT Director, kbro. “The Enterprise Immune System immediately spots abnormal activities unique to our environment and enables us to investigate and respond to them, before they become dangerous. Armed with powerful AI, we are now confident in our ability to safeguard our customers’ data against all manner of threat.”
With 1,000 employees and over one million customers, kbro is one of the largest broadband and digital TV service providers in Taiwan. Cyber breaches can be particularly costly for organizations such as kbro which hold vast amounts of sensitive customer data, due to mounting pressures from regulators and the high rate of customer attrition following a breach. Adopting a proactive security posture, kbro deployed the Enterprise Immune System to prevent insider threat and unknown vulnerabilities from compromising its hyperconnected network.
Darktrace’s AI technology mimics the self-learning intelligence of the human immune system to detect and autonomously defend against pernicious cyber-attacks in real time. Powered by machine learning and AI algorithms, the pioneering technology learns the ‘pattern of life’ for every user and device on a network and identifies threats as they emerge. Darktrace Antigena can then autonomously stop in-progress attacks as they unfold on the network, before they have caused damage.
“Organizations like kbro are recognizing that traditional security tools fail to detect today’s stealthy attacks and internal vulnerabilities,” commented Sanjay Aurora, Managing Director, Darktrace, Asia Pacific. “That Darktrace’s technology has been deployed over 5,000 times to defend some of the most complex networks around the globe is testament to the fundamental power of the Enterprise Immune System to fight against increasingly advanced cyber-threats. We look forward to enabling more industry leaders to take back control of their networks and successfully defend their critical assets.”
