Grovemere Property launches Bike Share Scheme at Lancaster Way Business Park

Grovemere Property, developer at Lancaster Way Business Park near Ely, is pleased to announce the launch of the company’s brand new Bike Share Scheme, in partnership with Ison Distribution.

All of the 80 companies based at Lancaster Way Business Park will be given the opportunity to join the scheme, with the idea to reduce vehicle movements on the park and encourage a healthier working environment.

Nicola Tuck, Director at Grovemere explains “Employees on the Business Park will be able to borrow a bike to travel to work, travel to meetings or go out on their lunch break just to get a bit of exercise. We have made efforts to encourage greener travel to the site and we are committed to expanding this policy across our portfolio.”

Ison Distribution which has been located on Lancaster way since 2001, has supplied Grovemere Property with a series of Cambridge Light Blue bikes for use on the scheme.

Lloyd Townsend, MD of Ison Distribution comments: “Our fourth generation family-owned business has been serving cyclists in Cambridge since 1895.  My great grandfather started by making and selling his own brand of The Light Blue bicycles up until the 1920s. The company evolved within the bicycle industry over the generations to a point 10 years ago where we were able to reintroduce the brand to meet the demand for a simple to use, lightweight, quality City type bike.”

Lancaster Way Business Park is part of the Cambridge Compass Enterprise Zones and has seen significant levels of development over the past few years. The Park has proven popular with a series of biotech, artificial intelligence, industrial and distribution companies, such as the likes of Ellutia, ThorLabs and Deanta UK all having taken space on the site.

Steven Harvey, Associate at Cheffins, lettings agents for the Park comments: “Lancaster Way goes from strength to strength with recent deals to Cambridge Commodities, the University of Cambridge and Deanta UK. This is partly due to the Park’s strategic location within easy reach of Cambridge and main motorway but networks and also due to Grovemere Property’s continued investment into the facilities available on the site. The Bike Share Scheme is another of the company’s excellent investment ideas which helps the Park to continue to flourish.”

Lloyd Townsend, MD of Ison Distribution, continues: “Townsends Light Blue Cycle Centre on Chesterton Road remains as our retail unit in Cambridge, however, nine years ago we decided to move our main distribution HQ to Lancaster Way Business Park.  We have remained immensely pleased with the friendly and helpful attitude of Grovemere and we've experienced Grovemere investing in such benefits as High-Speed broadband, 24-hour security, as well as keeping the whole estate looking tip-top for all of the occupants. As a local business, we are pleased to be able to offer long term support to yet another one of Grovemere's pioneering ideas for building a better environment for business in the area.”

Bidwells are joint agents at the scheme.
