Tim Holmes is a fully qualified and experienced psychodynamic psychotherapist, and offers psychotherapy and counselling to adults who have emotional problems that are causing worry or distress.
Tim Holmes joins Salus Wellness
Tim specialises in working with individuals experiencing emotional difficulties such as anxiety and depression, which may be for various reasons including bereavement, divorce or redundancy, difficulties at work or with friends or family, or in making or sustaining relationships, feelings of not belonging, stress, panic attacks, struggling with self-esteem or feeling unable to achieve, confusion around identity and sexuality.
Sessions are 50 minutes and take place once a week, sometimes more frequently if a person chooses. The therapy process is open-ended, some people preferring to come for a shorter period of a few months, while others choose to continue for longer.
Tim’s training and outlook are informed by both classical psychoanalytic and contemporary theory, and a relational approach, where you would work collaboratively and talk about your current difficulties, and perhaps your wider family background and history. Psychodynamic thinking includes the idea that part of what we experience, from early on, is unconscious, and that past experiences and events can influence how we feel and function in the present. The process that takes place in therapy can free you from the limitations of old patterns, which allows more realistic and effective ways for improving the quality of your life, your relationships and how you feel about yourself.
Tim trained at WPF Therapy, graduating in 2008, and has a Postgraduate Diploma in Psychodynamic Studies accredited by the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP), and is registered with the UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP). In his earlier career, Tim studied music and worked as a singer, and later worked in the financial sector.
Exploring what you are struggling with in a supportive and non-judgemental setting, in words and at a pace that feels comfortable, can help you gain greater insight and understanding of the thoughts, beliefs and behaviours that affect your life and relationships.
