Explore Independent Cambridge - Cambridge Framing Centre

04-03-2019

With the help of Independent Cambridge - the community of ‘real’ Cambridge - Cambridge Network continues its weekly exploration of the best independent shops, cafés, restaurants, people, businesses, venues and events in Cambridge and the surrounding area. This week: Cambridge Framing Centre.

Located in pretty Sussex Street, Cambridge Framing Centre has been part of the Cambridge high street scene for over 20 years and is a classic example of what indies do best – a unique offering, backed-up with incredible service and super strong relationships with their customers. And you can tell from many of these customers, what a great job they do as they include artists, collectors and galleries – all people who really care about art and know a good framer when they find one!

Bespoke framing orders are sent to the Centre’s workshop based in Norwich, where they have specialist state of the art equipment and lots of space for making even the biggest of frames. For a quick turnaround, smaller artworks can be fitted in the Cambridge store. Specialist conservation framing work is also undertaken by their GCF qualified framer using UV-protective glass, specialist moisture-resistant backing board, and acid-free mounts.

Alongside the bespoke framing is a fantastic range of ready-made frames – from ornate, wood or aluminium finish through to simple clip style – and is a less-expensive option when it comes to framing. There’s also undoubtably the best choice of mirrors you will find anywhere in Cambridge. Traditional mirror styles sell well but so too do the more contemporary looks such as their super cute convex mirrors, birdcage mirrors and wonderfully quirky duck leg mirror.
