Hewitsons’ Contentious Trusts and Probate Team had a good week, achieving settlement of two claims under the Inheritance (Provision for Family and Dependants) Act 1975 at mediations taking place on 11 and 12 September.
A successful week for Hewitsons’ Contentious Trusts and Probate Team
Both claims were against multi-million pound estates and involved a variety of complex factual and legal issues which the team helped its clients navigate through to reach agreement with the other parties.
In both cases Hewitsons acted for the Defendants to the claims, namely a private charitable trust in respect of a claim brought by the widow of the Deceased, and a sibling of an adult child claimant. The team’s specialist knowledge enabled the firm to minimise the value of the payments to the Claimants for both clients’ benefit.
At Hewitsons, the Contentious Trusts and Probate Team is committed to helping clients resolve both litigation and potential litigation in the most cost-effective and stress-free way possible. Mediation offers an ideal opportunity to resolve claims against estates at an early stage. The team is alive to the difficulties which these types of claim can pose and will work with you to achieve a tailored resolution to your case.
