A14 mobile visitor centre visits Wood Green Animal Shelter
The Highways England mobile visitor centre - to keep people up to date with progress on the major £1.5 billion A14 improvement scheme - will be at Huntingdonshire Business Fair next week.
Highways England has converted a 3.5 tonne truck into a visitor centre, explaining the route of the new road and focusing on how the scheme is progressing.
A spokeswoman for Highways England commented: “The mobile visitor centre will help people plan their journeys, tell them about the scheme’s progress, and share possible job opportunities too, as well as share information on other topics of interest.
“Because the A14 scheme is over an extended geographical area, our team felt that being able to visit local communities along the route with information would benefit more people, rather than asking them to come to a static visitor centre.”
The A14 Cambridge to Huntingdon improvement extends from Ellington, on the western outskirts of Huntingdon, to Milton in the north east of Cambridge, and includes both new highway construction and the widening and improvement of existing highways over a total length of 34 km (21 miles).
John Bridge OBE DL, Chief Executive of Cambridgeshire Chambers of Commerce, said: “It is a great opportunity for people to be able to understand the detail of the new scheme that is dealing with the biggest barrier to growth which has been identified by businesses in the area.”
Huntingdonshire Business Fair returns to Wood Green Animal Shelter in Godmanchester on Wednesday 26 April from 10.00am-4.00pm to bring businesses together from across the county for a day of networking and business promotion.
Over 100 stands will be at this one-day event that showcases companies from across Huntingdonshire and beyond. Additionally, more than 500 people are expected to attend to form new business connections, take advantage of three free speed networking sessions and two business seminars giving advice on developing a stand-out brand and offering practical information on key funding and support programmes to help your business innovate and grow.
