“It is a tremendous honour to receive this award, which came as a great surprise,” said Dr Harter. “I am extremely proud to be part of the engineering profession and it is an enormous privilege and pleasure to have worked alongside so many talented and creative people in research, business and the national engineering bodies.

"It is also a privilege to chair Cambridge Network, which for almost 20 years has provided vital and innovative services and support to thousands of high-skill businesses and individuals that make up the region’s thriving enterprise economy.”

Dr Harter is the CEO of RealVNC, a company he founded in 2002. Prior to that, Andy was the director of research and engineering at AT&T Laboratories Cambridge, where he led the development of a number of technologies that have had global impact.

Andy has contributed to engineering at a national level through service at the Royal Academy of Engineering and the Institution of Engineering and Technology, previously winning their most prestigious prizes including the MacRobert Award and the Faraday Medal. He will present the 2018 Turing Lectures.

Cambridge Network is delighted and sends warmest congratulations from the team and all its members.
