Bango CEO Ray Anderson appointed to MEF Global Board
Ray Anderson, Bango CEO and co-founder, has been elected to the Global Board of the Mobile Ecosystem Forum (MEF). MEF is the global trade body whose goal is to accelerate the growth of a sustainable and inclusive mobile ecosystem.
The Board elections, held at the MEF AGM in Barcelona during Mobile World Congress, saw Ray elected alongside other successful thought-leaders and influencers in the mobile space. Candidates ranged from a variety of sectors across the mobile community. Ray brings his vast expertise and experience as one of the key players in the mobile space, working on innovative solutions which enable users across the world to engage in the mobile ecosystem through the Bango Platform.
Ray has contributed a huge amount to the mobile technology industry. Taught Physics by Stephen Hawking at Cambridge University, before switching professions to Computer Science, Ray worked with the team that created the ARM processor. After meeting Steve Jobs, who bought software from Ray at the beginning of NeXT, Ray concentrated on user experience, going on to ship the first commercial web browser – IXI Mosaic, before moving into Unix and then ultimately selling his business to Sun. Ray founded Bango in 1999, establishing the “browse and buy” model for mobile payments. Bango is now the leading provider of app store carrier billing working with global internet goliaths including Amazon, Microsoft, Google and Samsung.
